41st cunningham classic bicycle race - saturday 9th september 2023

The Cunningham Classic is a bicycle race that has been run annually in either August or September every year since 1983. From 1985 the route of the course has been from Lake Apex Drive, Gatton to Warwick via the Gatton-Clifton Road to the New England Highway, south to Allora and then via Allora-Warwick Road with the finish line on Victoria Street, Warwick.

The 41sr edition of the event will be held on Saturday 9th September 2023 following this route with a short diversion off the New England highway north of Allora.

The event comprises 9 races commenced in Gatton at 9:00am with the following races starting every 10 minutes with the final race departing 10:20am. This means that there will be multiple bicycle races en route on Gatton-Clifton Road to the New England Highway from 9:00am until the last race passes through Allora around 1:00pm

This information is provided to assist local traffic to consider alternate an alternate route other than the Gatton-Clifton Road from between 9:00am - 1:00pm on Saturday 9th September 2023.

Each of the 9 race convoys has dedicated Lead, official and support vehicles travelling directly in front and behind each race peleton. This will make it very difficult for non-race vehicles to overtake the race pelotons so to avoid delays in your journey, we highly recommend using another route over this period. Mobile Police on motorbikes will also be monitoring non-race traffic and behaviour along the route.

The event is run under approval with the Queensland Police Service, Qld Transport and Main Roads, and the local councils through which the race is run.
